Thousand Pools Have Thousand Moons

Thousand pools have thousand moons was a story that described the awfulness of Taiwanese young couples in the past. The story has English translation edition, but I don't know its name. This young couple couldn't deal with their love. I have no time to read the entire book, but I have to know who had published the book and a little something about the content. Thanks to our government that our exam will include this sort of Taiwanese literature. Here are some contents and comments in my textbook. Since the boy didn't contact his sweetheartfor a while that had outraged her. Thus, she sent her last, short letter as "I am disappointed with your lately behavior." to end their affection. The girl felt with pain and returned back to her hometown. On the way home, she looked at the pools aside and found a gorgeous scene. There were thousand moons in the thousand pools. However, an unbelievable critic was made by 龍應台, as she said the article was 盲目的懷舊病 and critized the author 對傳統社會沒有反省與懷疑的智慧。It was so strange, wasn't it.

The town could never get tranquil

One night, people in the township were hilarious about the banquet on the birthday of one Goddess. Suddenly a notorious rascal secretly entered a coffin store and raped the hostess, who committed sucide later trying to keep her reputation. The next day, however, the owner of coffin store revenged on killing the whole family of that rascal and turned himself to the police. There was a Taiwanese novel to describe the awful and thrilled happening of the subsequence. The town is somewhere in Taiwan that could never get tranquil since a stranger who was believed to be the man of the coffin store owner showed up. I didn't read the story, but I have to memorize this novel's name and the auther, as some of Taiwan literature, which is a subject for our exams. Sigh!

I Ain't Cheating

Yesterday, I had a talk to my English teacher who studied in a college in the USA. She said when she was in college and one thing did bother her ever since. One day, she finished an exam. Her professor approached to her and asked her rudely what is happening and about how bad exam she had taken. She replied humbly, "Sir, I ain't cheating to the exam." We laughed for a while. I think the professor should have known what he had done to the class. See, an exam is supposed to assess what students have learned and it shouldn't take as humiliation. If the majority of the class are cheating, he is the one to be blamed.

Listening Comprehansion

I went to a Yahoo Family Board quite often, mainly to post the latest news everyday. It forces me to read news and digests the news as far as I can. Before yesterday, a visitor asked where I extracted the news from. She wanted to know because her speaking class needed the resource. I made a suggestion for her to listen first, then spoke the news after. As I search the audio and video news, I found an idea for myself why not writing down the voices from the audio and video, since they were sounded, clear, and easy to rewind. I have written two news in two days only for short periods of time. I think it is very encouraging way to learn listening comprehansion.

Newspaper deliverer

Mr. Yang was as a newspaper deliverer once in his life. In fact, he went to study in Tokyo, Japan after having finished his high school in Taiwan. It was about 1930, when Taiwan was a part of colonies under Japanese govenment. Mr. Yang, who came to Tokyo, had nothing else but finding a trivial job in the daytime and planed to study at night.All his family property were mandated and ocuppied by Japanese government, though his parent still managed to send him to Japan at the last momonet of their wealth. Mr. Yang found a job to work as a newspaper deliverer. It was not a easy job that he got to get up quite early to send couples thousands of newspapers and he was asked to create at least fifteen customers a day. He was fired after twenty days of work because he couldn't reach the requirement and signed agreement. The newspaper company held his wages and also some quarantee money that he really had emptied his pocket. When he had come to this end of living in a foreign country, he received his even worse news from his mother. His beloved sister and brother all passed away sequentially. His mother also went on putting her life to an end, but mailed the letter. On the letter, she wrote, "Mother worships your success everyday. Under any circumstance, you ought to keep yourself aboard. Here in Taiwan seemed as hell and no outlet for what so ever. My only wish is that you have to proceed and work hard as you can in order to save people in our place. This is my last mail and take care of yourself." Mr. Yang couldn't do nothing, but keep his miniature life alive. He worked hard all the way to complete his study as his mother's will and returned back to his homeland. This is the story from Taiwanese Literature that I have just read and here I write down for my reflection.

Moral Development

It is believed that people are born with blank, whereas the moral concepts is developping through the interacting in their environment and society. Kohlberg indicated that there were three stages and six levels of moral developments in our life time. The first stage is preparation stage that children's age is under ten year old. During this stage children tend to escape punishment and obey rules which set by adults. The second stage is formal moral stage that children's age is between ten and twenty year old. During this stage, children grow up to adolescence. They start to look for agreement of the society and they know those rules can be changed and negociable. It is a tendancy that they likely follow those rules. The last stage is after moral stage and it happen after twenty year old. They possess the concepts of law that established by society, and also they have senses of self-valves. This is the moral development that had been well clarified and people can accordingly become well behaved in the society.

However, as I waked up this morning, a terrible news forcasted in television that a female college student was kidnapped and later killed last month. Why are people doing these immoral behaviors? They have outlawed the society and claimed that they needed money to pay back some debts they squandered in video-games. They had no meaning of life and loves from others. I think our society and education system should also be blamed for this incidence. The moral edcation is very important since childhood, not only family but also school should take it as first priority. We need a warm place to live peacefully that moral development for everybody should take serious account. When we teach children to well behavior, adults ought to be set as models. The laws to maintein the social order should be strictly established. The govenment and media should have clean and open-minds to serve the civilians. Of cause, it is hard to achieve a perfect society, but a careful consideration should be taken as moral studying aspect.

Life Philosophy

My life phylosophy is all but from the book. Mankinds are born with similarity and discrepancy. Maslow had pointed out that there were hierarchy needs as biological, safety, belongings, self-esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, and self-actualization. We are all similar in case of needs in human instinct. Nevertheless, we also possess a little discrepancy which come from genetics and surrounding. Gardner said we had seven differenct intelligences as verbal, logical, spatial, physical, musical, intra-personal, and interpersonal that we should learn depend on individual talents. As we develop and adjust with the environment, we make our own self-concept and traits. Our society start to play its major role and drive everybody in different ways. Because the resources of the earth are limited, human beings have to force to compete with each other such that the society becomes urgly and wierd. people no longer satisfy their needs and many of them misbehave and commit crimes in the other ends. As for myself, I prefer to make a simple life. I will always look for a steady and joyable place to live upon. Life is just to live without worry too much, that's all.

國學常識

Chinese is so difficult, because there are so many garbages inthere. Maybe I shouldn't call them garbage since they are written by many famous authors. There are many certificated tests for citizens like me to pass over, so we can have jobs and positions to live on. As I am reading now, I have to memorize so many junks which seem to be useless. There is one reason to read and memorize is that they likely show on the test. Problems such as who is 昌黎先生 and who is 廣成先生 in Tan Dynasty. Well, I am not going to tell you because you can search from internet and get the answer. I however am looking forward to people who can react with my problem. Hee!

Study hours

Every one has only 24 hours for a day, but some can really contribute their time on studying. I used to envy those who always got high scores on the tests. I wondered why they could but I couldn't. I was so glad that my family could afford me entering college and graduate school. There were good and bad assessments during my study in my past. Now I am preparing for teacher licence which many peolple are taking the test also. I feel like I am studying all day long. Many of my classmates already feel the hype and panic in doing so. I however keep on doing my notebook and reflection on computer. I hope my study being effective and efficient, afterall there is only 24 hours in a day.

Emotional Development

There are many kinds of developments along with child development, such as physical development, motor development, verbal development, social development, cognitive development, emotional development, moral development, and so on. Howard Gardner said there were seven intelligences, but child develoment is more complicated than those. I continue my study on this area. Today, I want to talk about emotional development which many books have omitted. Child expresses fear when strangers near since the middle of first year, which is also called as stranger age. Other fear related emotional patterns include shyness, embarrassment, worry, and anxiety. In addition to fear, there are other emotions like anger, jealousy, grief, curiosity, joy, and affection. Most children should be able to control their emotions, but few has problem to deal with their physical and mental catharsis. The unfavorable judgements will affect their self-evaluation, and to their adjustments in the society. Today, we know it may be genetic differences. Nevertheless, our environments are largely responsible for the differences in emotionality. Last, studying children's emotional development will help us understand how to get along with children.
